
An AT-6 military aircraft from the Air Force crashed in a forest in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province, engulfed in flames, resulting in two fatalities. It was reported to have flown from Wing 411 in Chiang Mai. Officials are rushing to investigate the cause of the crash.
At 10:40 a.m. on 29 Jan 2026, reporters received information that the security forces in Chom Thong District had been notified of a plane crash in a remote forested area, far from communities, in Village No. 6, Ban Huay Muang Fai Sai, Mae Soi Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province.
Initial inspection of the crash site found the wreckage of a small military training or light attack aircraft, an AT-6 model, white in color, belonging to the Air Force. The plane was severely damaged and engulfed in intense flames. Wing parts clearly displayed the Air Force’s white-red-blue circular insignia. Rescue and local administrative officials who reached the area reported two fatalities at the scene. However, the names and ranks of the deceased have not yet been confirmed. It was reported that the plane had flown from Wing 411 in Chiang Mai.
Currently, security forces in Chom Thong District, together with rescue teams, have cordoned off the area to allow aviation safety officials and related agencies to investigate and collect evidence. The inquiry aims to determine whether the accident was caused by mechanical failure, weather conditions, or other factors.
