
A fire broke out in the Salawin building, special room 3 on the 5th floor of Mae Sariang Hospital, resulting in the death of a male patient. The cause is under investigation.
A reporter stated that at 04:30, the 191 Emergency Center in Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son Province, received a report of a fire inside Mae Sariang Hospital. The center coordinated with the Mae Sariang rescue and relief teams and the Mae Sariang Municipality's disaster mitigation unit, dispatching personnel and fire trucks to control the fire.
At the scene on the 5th floor of the Salawin building, which houses special patients, a fire was found in room number 3, the innermost room of the building. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, taking about one hour to safely control it without spreading to adjacent rooms.
Initial checks inside the affected room found the body of a deceased person burned on the hospital bed. At the time of the fire, the patient had one relative present. Additionally, two rescue workers suffered from smoke inhalation.
Authorities will collect evidence on site and conduct an investigation into the fire's cause to proceed with legal action accordingly.
