
The Second Army Region announced a relaxation of controls on oil exports at the "Chong Mek checkpoint" in Ubon Ratchathani Province.Ubon Ratchathani ProvinceThis aims to alleviate the difficulties of the Lao people starting from 27 February onward, while maintaining strict measures for onward exports to Cambodia.
On 27 February 2026, it was reported that the Facebook page of the Second Army Region posted a statement regarding guidelines for controlling the export of oil fuel and military equipment stating that the Army Operations Center approved guidelines to ease controls on fuel exports at the permanent Chong Mek border crossing in Sirindhorn District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, to Laos.
The Second Army Region is easing oil export controls at the Chong Mek checkpoint.This is to benefit and alleviatethe difficulties of the Lao people, while maintaining strict controls on exports onward to Cambodia under appropriate control measures. Additionally,they will facilitateall aspects to minimize impacts on operators as much as possible.
For thoseoperatorswishing to export oil, they mustcoordinatedirectly with the Suranaree Force in the districtof MueangSurin Province.Starting from27 February,2026 onward.
