Intense fighting in Myanmar has led to a 'kamikaze drone' crossing the Mae Sot border and crashing on the Thai side, but no damage was caused.
At 11:30 a.m. on 4 April 2026, reporters updated on the fierce clashes between Myanmar's Southeast Regional Light Infantry Division 22 and the Karen National Union (KNU) forces. The fighting, which has been intense for some time, shows no signs of easing and has escalated in areas opposite Mae Sot and Phop Phra districts in Tak province.
Most recently, throughout the previous night, Myanmar troops launched a major military operation by attacking KNU strongholds in the Min La Pan, Pha Lu Noi, and Pha Lu Yai villages opposite Huai Maha Wong village, as well as Mae Kon Ken and New Mae Kon Ken villages in Mahawan subdistrict, Mae Sot district. Both sides engaged in combat using heavy weapons and small arms.
Additionally, Myanmar forces used kamikaze drones to strike KNU positions. One unmanned drone lost control and crossed into Thai territory, crashing there, but it caused no damage.
