
The Poh Teck Tung Foundation visited northern provinces together with representatives from local foundations in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, and Lampang to distribute masks to residents affected by PM 2.5 dust pollution.
On 8 Apr, reporters reported that from 4-7 Apr, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, led by Ms. Duangchuta Tiyapojanapornkul, Acting Manager of the Disaster Relief Department, toured PM2.5-affected areas in four northern provinces, including Mueang, Hang Dong, Mae Rim, San Sai, Doi Saket, and San Kamphaeng districts in Chiang Mai, Mueang district in Lamphun, and Mueang district inLampangand Mueang district in Chiang Rai, distributing a total of 440,000 masks to the public, valued at more than 200,000 baht. Representatives from the Chiang Mai Samakkhi Charity Foundation, Lamphun Samakkhi Charity Foundation, and Lampang Welfare Foundation inLampangprovinceLampangas well as the Chiang Rai Public Welfare Foundation coordinated and helped distribute the masks in the area.
Throughout this period, the Poh Teck Tung Foundation has been aware of the PM2.5 dust crisis. The Tai Hong Kong Shrine under the foundation has continuously managed the situation by reducing the number of incense burners used for worship, suspending the burning of paper offerings at the shrine, posting signs requesting worshippers to refrain from lighting incense and candles, and speeding up the collection of used incense and candles. Additionally, staff have distributed masks to affected residents, showing concern for the health of devotees and the wider community.the general environment
