The Governor of Nan Province participated in the ceremonyto bury the bodiesof nine victims from the accident "Huai Yen curve pickup truck crash" in Pua District, ordering all agencies to raisestandardsof safety and expedite assistance and compensationpayments to the victims' heirs totaling4.18million baht.

In the incident, a pickup truck carrying 22 passengerscrashed at the Huai Yen curve,lost control, and veered off the road on the Pua–Doi Phuka Highway in Pua District, Nan Province, resulting in nine deaths. The driver and all passengers were relatives from Choon Village, Moo 4, Pa Klang Subdistrict, Pua District, who had gone fishing in Bo Kluea District andthe accident occurred whilethey were returning home in the evening on18 Apr 2026,as previously reported...

Recently,on 22 Apr 2026, Mr. Chainarong Wongyai, Governor of Nan Province, acting as Director of the Nan Provincial Road Safety Center, presided over the burial ceremonyfor the victims of the road accident and presented compensation payments to the victims' heirs to alleviate their hardship and support the affected families. The ceremony was held at the cemetery in Choon Village, Pa Klang Subdistrict, Pua District, Nan Province.The Governor of Nan Province expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, stating that this was a severe accident rarely seen in the area but caused significant loss of life and impact on the victims' families.The Nan Provincial Road Safety Center has ordered all relevant agencies to swiftly provide assistance and expedite compensation payments within legal frameworks to relieve the suffering of the bereaved families as soon as possible.

This accident occurred on 18 Apr 2026 at approximately 17:55 near Ban Mon, Moo 3, Pua District, resulting in multiple deaths and serious injuries. Nan Province assigned a subcommittee to investigate the facts to determine the cause and establish preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

Meanwhile, Nan Province has intensified road safety measures, including traffic control, engineering improvements at hazardous spots, and enhanced visibility on main and secondary routes to reduce accident risks long term.

Regarding the compensation payments, cooperation was secured from the Office of the Insurance Commission in Nan Province along with the private sector, enabling a total of 4,182,084 baht to be provided to the heirs of the nine deceased to help ease their loss and encourage the affected families to overcome this difficult time.
