Officials found nearly 30 floating 200-liter drums filled with "diesel fuel" scattered along the Moei River bank. It is suspected the fuel was prepared for shipment to Myanmar. The drums were seized as evidence while ownership is being investigated.
At 06:00 on 30 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters learned that Mr. Chusak Ruaying, Governor of Tak Province, was informed by Mr. Preeda Fungtrakunchai, Chief of Tha Song Yang District; Mr. Phuwadon Kaoklueng, District Clerk and Head of Security; and Mr. Anusorn Kaewthankam, Security Officer, who led members of the Tha Song Yang District Civil Defense Volunteers, alongside officers from Border Patrol Police Company 344 and Tha Song Yang Police Station, to inspect the Moei River bank at Mae Tan village, Moo 2, Mae Tan subdistrict, Tha Song Yang district, Tak province, after discovering several floating fuel drums.
Upon inspection, 28 drums containing diesel fuel, each 200 liters in size, were found abandoned in the area, totaling 5,600 liters of fuel. No one claimed ownership at the scene, leading officials to believe the fuel was intended for illicit cross-border transport into Myanmar.
Authorities have seized all the diesel fuel as evidence and handed it over to Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanom Suriya, investigator at Tha Song Yang Police Station, to conduct further investigations and track down those responsible for prosecution under the law.
