Police arrested two suspects dressed as riders who raided a Samut Sakhon mall and stole 23 baht of gold. They admitted to the crime and fled to Nan province. They were found to have committed similar offenses before.
At approximately 19:40 on 1 May 2026, the 191 radio center of the Samut Sakhon Provincial Police Headquarters received a report of a lone gunman robbing 23 baht of gold jewelry from a gold shop inside a well-known department store in Village 4, Khok Kham Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Sakhon District, Samut Sakhon Province. Authorities quickly coordinated with Khok Kham Police Station to investigate and promptly informed their superiors.
Later, investigators from Mueang Nan Police Station, together with the Nan Provincial Police Investigation Division, arrested two suspects following coordination with the investigators from Region 7, Samut Sakhon Province, and Khok Kham Police Station, regarding the gold shop robbery at the shopping mall in Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrators fled north. In the early morning of 2 May 2026, around 05:00, leads pointed to Phrae Province, with expectations they were heading to Nan Province since one suspect was a former goalkeeper for Nan FC soccer club.
Authorities later spotted a suspicious vehicle parked at a resort in Ban Suan Hom, Phasing Subdistrict, Mueang Nan District. Upon inspection, the two suspects were found staying in separate rooms and were immediately taken into custody.
During interrogation, both suspects confessed to jointly committing the gold robbery, with clearly divided roles: one directed and facilitated the escape while the other carried out the robbery inside the mall. The stolen gold was hidden during their flight.
Further background checks showed the suspects had previously committed a similar crime and had been hiding in Nan Province before being arrested. After serving their sentence, they returned and committed the offense again.
Authorities are continuing to track additional evidence and will proceed with legal action accordingly.
