Schedule for the Merit-Making Ceremony of the Preserved Body "Luang Pu Sombun Paripunnasilo" A renowned Vipassana meditation master and abbot of Wat Por Daeng
On 22 May 2026, reporters learned that disciples and Buddhist devotees are preparing to hold a merit-making ceremony for the preserved body of Luang Pu Sombun Paripunnasilo at the 70th Anniversary Sala in the Nirvana Garden, Phu Luang Subdistrict, Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, providing an opportunity for those devoted to pay their final respects and express gratitude.
The schedule begins on 22 May 2026 at 12:00, with a ceremony welcoming the preserved body of Luang Pu Sombun into the ordination hall area. Then at 15:00, a bathing ceremony of the preserved body will take place, inviting attendees to join in chanting and meditation as a form of reverence.
Merit-making will continue from 23 to 30 May 2026, with daily schedules at Nirvana Garden including morning chanting and meditation at 04:00, offering breakfast to monks at 07:00, offering midday meal at 11:00, and evening chanting and meditation at 18:00, continuing throughout the week.
On the final day, 31 May 2026, important ceremonies will begin at 07:00 with offering breakfast to the monks. At 08:00, monks and disciples will jointly circumambulate the stupa with the preserved body, then bring it to the cremation site for the offering of funeral robes. At 11:00, the midday meal offering will take place, followed by the chanting of funeral rites at 14:00.
At 15:00, the most significant event will be the ritual dissolution of the preserved body of Luang Pu Sombun Paripunnasilo. The organizers invite all disciples and Buddhists to participate together in merit-making and to respectfully send Luang Pu to Nirvana according to the scheduled dates and times.
