Police Investigate Further to Resolve 6 Million Baht Lottery Controversy Involving Aunt Khayan Expected to Conclude in 1-2 Days

Police have summoned lottery vendors and a garbage truck driver for further statements to expedite the resolution of the confusing case involving the missing 6 million baht lottery prize, expecting to solve it within 1-2 days.

This follows the controversy where a 54-year-old woman claimed to have asked her neighbor to check her lottery tickets and was initially delighted to learn she had won the first prize, but later said she had not. Recently, the lottery tickets went missing, while the neighbor insists they were returned, as previously reported.

The latest update on 9 Jun 2026 GMT+7 at Sawankhalok Police Station in Sukhothai Province, at 9:00 a.m., police summoned retired officer Lt. Col. Charan Phumpuang, owner of a lottery stand, and "Je Haeng" to give statements in the confusing government lottery case. Ms. Sayan, or "Aunt Khayan," had bought three tickets and asked a neighbor to check them. One ticket bearing number 173770, which won the first prize, subsequently went missing.

Additionally, police summoned Mr. Praphan Khammun, 63, a garbage truck driver for Pak Nam Subdistrict Administrative Organization, for questioning. Mr. Praphan said that on 4 June 2026 GMT+7, around 4 a.m., he and four other employees drove the garbage truck from Pak Nam SAO to collect trash, focusing on Village 8, which has issues twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays. The day the missing lottery ticket was searched for was Thursday. That day, they left the SAO at 3 a.m., went to Village 2, then to Village 8. Hence, police called him for further questioning. He personally knows Aunt Sayan, describing her as a calm person, unlike Mr. Det and Mrs. Waew, whom he knows but is not close with.

Meanwhile, Pol. Maj. Gen. Sathaporn Sriphirom, Provincial Police Commander of Sukhothai, stated that the case should be concluded and resolved within 1-2 days. Recently, the provincial investigation team, together with Sawankhalok Police Station detectives, have summoned involved individuals including Mr. Det, Mrs. Waew, Mrs. Mee, and two neighbors who were present during the incident for further interrogation. They also requested to examine all their mobile phones again through technical analysis.
