The buyer of lottery number 970, close to "Aunt Khayan's," handed over the tickets to police, while the daughter is confident the lost ticket won the first prize. She insists her mother was coherent and only slow to respond, not forgetful as some social media comments claimed.
In the case of the confusion over the missing first prize lottery number 173770, Ms. Saiyan Dokmai, or "Aunt Khayan," a resident of Pak Nam Subdistrict, Sawankhalok District, Sukhothai Province, filed a police report stating she ordered three lottery tickets from "Je Haeng" at a roadside shop at the entrance to Pak Nam Subdistrict, Village No. 6. On the morning of 1 June 2026, she received the tickets and paid 300 baht for the three sewn together. After the official lottery results were announced around 7 p.m., she asked a neighbor to check them. It was found that one ticket won the first prize, and the neighbor hugged her in joy. The neighbor offered to keep the ticket for her, so she left it there and did not bring the tickets back home. However, when she returned later, the neighbor said the ticket did not win and threw it in the trash. Upon inspection, only two tickets were found in the bin; the ticket believed to be the first-prize winner was missing, as previously reported.
Later, Police Major General Sataporn Sriphirom, Commander of Sukhothai Provincial Police, confirmed Ms. Saiyan Dokmai's ownership of the first prize lottery number 173770, based on witness testimony, documents, and IT evidence including photos taken by the seller. There were two tickets ending in 70 that Ms. Saiyan reserved: one ending in 970, which was sold earlier, and another ending in 770 held by her. Recently, a good citizen brought lottery ticket number 953970, also ending in 70, which the stall owner Je Haeng had photographed before selling. This confirms that Ms. Saiyan purchased all three tickets and that the tickets were legitimately delivered from the lottery stall. The evidence supports that Ms. Saiyan holds rightful ownership of the winning ticket. The Sawankhalok Police Station has compiled evidence and will proceed with further investigation and legal processes, with the court to decide rightful ownership in due course.
Ms. Pornphan Kaewprasert, daughter of Ms. Saiyan, expressed joy, saying someone brought ticket number 953970 for her to see and stated the handover evidence has been submitted to Sawankhalok Police Station. This assures her that the first prize belongs 100 percent to their family. She also confirmed her mother was coherent and not forgetful as some commenters suggested; her mother simply responded slowly and spoke briefly, especially with unfamiliar people. Her mother has consistently maintained the same story. She has worked hard to raise four children, even sending the eldest to complete a university degree. Her mother has persevered, selling vegetables and doing odd jobs diligently, and she asks everyone to understand her mother’s situation. After receiving the prize money, she plans to fulfill many vows because she has made promises at various shrines along her travels.
