Tears flooded the pavilion as "Nong Termfun's father" poured water on the coffin of his 2-year-old son, a victim of a village assistant headman who was drunk driving. Amid the deep sorrow of the attendees, many could not hold back their tears.
At 6:00 p.m. on 10 June 2026 GMT+7, at Wat Sri Koet, Mueang District, Lampang Province, the atmosphere during the water-pouring funeral rite for Nong Termfun, the 2-year-old victim of the drunk-driving village assistant headman, was deeply solemn. Relatives gathered to perform the water-pouring ceremony and invited monks to conduct religious rites.
The atmosphere inside the ceremony was filled with grief, especially the boy’s father, who cried continuously upon seeing his son’s body. He also gently tied his son's hair and wiped his face, speaking to him throughout the water-pouring rite, moving many attendees to tears.
The reporter noted that Mr. Det, the perpetrator, did not attend the water-pouring ceremony, possibly because the boy’s father was not ready to face him and still could not come to terms with the tragedy.
After the water-pouring ceremony, Nong Termfun’s body will be held for the evening funeral prayers. It will then remain at the temple awaiting the boy’s mother, who is hospitalized in Lampang with fractures in both legs. The exact date of the cremation has not yet been determined.
