Troops and Equipment Prepared to Monitor Mae Sot Border after Myanmar Military Clashes with Opposition Group

The 3rd Army Region's Naresuan Task Force is monitoring the Mae Sot border in Tak province, assessing that fighting may occur, with stray bullets from clashes crossing into Thai territory. Troops and equipment are kept at a state of operational readiness.

On 22 June 2026, Major General Winthai Suwaree, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, stated that the 3rd Army Region's Naresuan Task Force has been closely monitoring the Thai-Myanmar border near Mae Sot district, Tak province. Currently, clashes are likely between Myanmar military forces and opposition groups near Ninh La Pan and Phalu villages in Myawaddy, Myanmar, opposite Ban Huai Maha Wong, Maha Wan subdistrict, Mae Sot district, Tak province from 21 to 23 June 2026. Due to recent fighting, stray bullets may cross into Thai territory. The Ratchamanu Task Force has coordinated a warning to Ban Mae Kon Ken School to close for one day on 22 June 2026 to ensure student safety.

Meanwhile, the Naresuan Task Force, through the Ratchamanu Task Force, has prepared troops and equipment at operational readiness to safeguard the lives and property of people along the border. Residents of Ban Huai Maha Wong, Maha Wan subdistrict, Mae Sot district, Tak province are advised to increase vigilance and closely follow official information. If affected or encountering unusual incidents, they may report to local security agencies at any time, 24 hours a day.
