
In Lampang, an unidentified man lost control of his car, crashing into a used car dealership and dying instantly. Examination of the wreckage revealed fake license plates and scattered methamphetamine pills. Authorities are urgently investigating the cause.
On 29 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Colonel Ekrit Rupsat, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Mueang Lampang Police Station, received a report of a car crashing while rounding a curve into a used car lot, resulting in a fatality. Several vehicles parked at the dealership were damaged. The incident occurred on the Lampang–Hang Chat (old) road near the entrance to Ban Bo Hao, Mueang District, Lampang Province. He, along with Police Colonel Komsan Bamrungyot, Chief of Mueang Lampang Police Station, police investigators, and members of the Lampang Rescue Association, proceeded to the scene to investigate.
At the scene inside the used car lot, a bronze silver Nissan Almera with Lampang license plates was found severely damaged. The driver was found dead inside the wreckage. Rescue personnel had to use hydraulic cutters to extricate the body. No documents identifying the deceased were found.
Inside the wreckage, several methamphetamine pills were scattered, along with a license plate suspected to be fake.
Police Colonel Komsan Bamrungyot, Chief of Mueang Lampang Police Station, told reporters that initially, the license plate appeared to be fake and might be linked to drug-related activities, so it has been seized for examination. The deceased driver was found without any identification. The accident also caused damage to five vehicles parked at the dealership.
