Six days have passed without locating the "grandfather and grandson" lost in the Chiang Muan forest in Phayao Province after they went to gather mushrooms. Authorities have mobilized forces to intensify searches at suspected points around streams, reservoirs, and the border area with Nan Province,.
On 13 August 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that from 08:00 a.m., Mr. Pichai Khueanphet, the District Chief of Chiang Muan, Phayao Province, together with Mr. Sumethi Kamlu, Mayor of Chiang Muan Subdistrict Municipality and Director of the Joint Search Operations Center for Missing Persons at Chiang Muan Municipality, and the Deputy District Chief, convened a meeting of the Joint Search Operations Center for Mr. Ramet Chandang, aged 20, and Mr. Nak Kamlu, aged 74, grandfather and grandson who are residents of Village No. 3, Chiang Muan Subdistrict, Chiang Muan District, Phayao Province. They went into the forest to look for mushrooms and have been missing for six days.
Today, multiple agencies have mobilized continuous search efforts, deploying scent dogs along with drones equipped with heat detection. More than 100 personnel from various units have divided into groups to search separately within the forest area, streams, and reservoirs in Chiang Muan Subdistrict, as well as forest streams in the border area of Nan Province. It is expected they will be found soon.
