Nan Municipality Issues First Warning to Flood-Prone Communities to Secure Belongings

Announcement No. 1 "Nan Municipality" It warns communities at risk that experienced flooding in 2006 and 2024 to secure belongings from floodwaters and prepare to evacuate vulnerable groups to safe areas.

On 19 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported thatNan Municipalityissued its first flood warning at 07:00, stating that heavy to very heavy rain exceeding 200 millimeters has fallen in many parts of Nan province, especially in Pua, Sanitsuk, and Mae Charim districts since midnight until now, causing flash floods in the northern areas and increasing water levels in the Yao (east) and Wa rivers.

Nan Municipality requests that communities within its area at risk, particularly those previously flooded in 2006 and 2024, secure belongings against flooding, move vehicles to safe locations, and prepare to evacuate vulnerable groups to safety.

Those choosing to stay in homes they deem safe should prepare food, drinking water, medicines, lighting, cooking equipment, and communication tools sufficient to sustain them for at least three days. (The Provincial Electricity Authority may suspend power supply in some areas).
