Mother Pig Gives Birth in Floodwaters Piglets Swept Away, Fate Unknown

Truly heartbreaking The "mother pig" gave birth to two piglets in the water before being swept away by the flood; their fate remains unknown. "piglets"

On 20 August 2026, Chutimaporn Charapok, 52, assistant village headman of Ban Kaem Rat Phatthana, Village No. 4, recounted that the mother pig, about two years old, was carried by floodwaters since midnight on 19 August. No one knew which village the pig came from or who owned it.

The mother pig had already given birth to two piglets, which were swept away by the floodwaters, and their fate is unknown. It is believed that the mother pig still had several piglets inside her womb. She appeared weak and was unlikely to be able to give birth again.

Chutimaporn further explained that the flooding in Ban Kaem Rat Phatthana resulted from changes in the waterways since Typhoon Wipha in 2025. The village receives water from the Puon and Kwang rivers, which converge to flow into the Pua and Nan rivers. A damaged water barrier caused water to flood throughout the village. This flood was the most severe to date, damaging all homes. She appealed to the relevant agencies to urgently address the problem to prevent such events from recurring in the future.
