Landslide Blocks Road in Mae Ho Subdistrict, Isolating 6 Villages and Threatening Agricultural Crops

A severe crisis has isolated six villages along the road behind the center of Mae Ho Subdistrict, Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son Province, after a landslide blocked multiple points on the road. Vehicles of all types cannot pass, causing transportation of agricultural products to halt.

On 20 August 2026, Mr. Surachai Fai Sombun, Secretary to the Head of Mae Ho Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Mae Hong Son Province, who lives in the area behind the center, Village 7 Dong Luang, Mae Ho Subdistrict, Mae Sariang District, reported that following heavy rainfall, the road behind the center was completely cut off and impassable. Landslides blocked multiple points along the road connecting villages, preventing all types of vehicles from passing. The affected villages are Village 5 Mae Jang, Village 6 Dong Ku, Village 7 Dong Luang, Village 8 Huai Plakang, Village 9 Huai Pang Phang, and Village 11 Ban Khun Wong.

In addition, farmers in the area behind the center who had harvested cabbage ready to sell to traders cannot transport their crops out. If the road remains closed, they will have to discard the produce, which is expected to suffer significant damage. After heavy rain in the area, the road behind the center in Mae Ho Subdistrict is one of the severely affected routes. Teachers working in schools behind the center are also unable to leave the area. Furthermore, the area is experiencing power outages and communication signal problems, creating obstacles to coordination.

Mr. Wicha Prasertsri, Head of Mae Ho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, stated that to alleviate the suffering of residents behind the center and other areas affected by heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides, the Mae Ho Subdistrict Administration will coordinate with local machinery operators to urgently begin reopening the roads tomorrow.
