DDPM Reports Flooding Persists in Six Provinces, Some Areas Improving Over 70,000 Affected, 2 Dead

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) revealed that flooding continues in six provinces, with some areas starting to improve and enter recovery. More than 70,000 people have been affected, with two fatalities reported.

On 21 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters stated that DDPM announced ongoing flood situations in six provinces: Nan, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sakon Nakhon, and Ubon Ratchathani. The flooding affects 16 districts, 61 subdistricts, and 363 villages, impacting 23,823 households, totaling 73,797 people. Two deaths occurred in Nan province (one in Pua district and one in Tha Wang Pha district).

DDPM and related agencies are continuously providing aid and ensuring public safety. Many areas have improved and entered the recovery phase for homes, roads, buildings, and public facilities as follows.

In Nan province, flooding affects seven districts: Pua, Tha Wang Pha, Phu Phiang, Sanitsuk, Na Muen, Wiang Sa, and Mueang Nan, covering 34 subdistricts and 223 villages. A total of 21,050 households or 66,097 people are affected. Some roads were submerged, impeding travel, but water levels have now receded.

In Ubon Ratchathani province, riverbanks overflowed in three districts—Khong Chiam, Khemarat, and Pho Sai—covering four subdistricts and 12 villages. Sixty-five households totaling 146 people are affected. Water levels have stabilized.

DDPM, along with provincial and district authorities, local administrative organizations, volunteers, and related agencies, continue to mobilize aid. Efforts include evacuating residents, pumping out water, and supporting livelihoods. In areas where flooding has subsided, local agencies have begun cleaning and restoring homes, roads, and public facilities obstructed by mud and debris to enable residents to return home as soon as possible.
