Heavy Rain Rain Bomb Hits Mae Sot for Hours, Overwhelms Drainage, Floods Multiple Roads

Heavy rain in Tak province 'Rain bomb' pounded Mae Sot for several hours, overwhelming drainage and flooding many roads, causing traffic jams and inconvenience to travelers.

At 14:00 on 23 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted that heavy rain had fallen continuously for over 3 hours and had not stopped yet in Mae Sot district, Tak province. This caused drainage problems within Mae Sot municipality, resulting in flooding at multiple spots such as Mae Pa Road in Mae Sot, roads near shopping malls, Phatthana Nakhon Mae Sot Road, Mae Sot-Mae Tao Road, and the Islamic and Buakhun communities. Floodwaters overflowed onto roads, causing traffic jams; some areas experienced foul-smelling stagnant water, making travel difficult for residents.

Just a few days ago, a major flood occurred within Mae Sot municipality, flooding the Rim Moei market due to continuous rainfall over several days, and cleanup was completed only yesterday.

This afternoon, heavy rain fell again, adding to the existing water volume. If the rain continues without stopping today, another flooding event is expected.

Mae Sot municipality continues to warn residents to be vigilant for flash floods during this period, advising them to store valuables in high places and to monitor water levels constantly.
