On 24 August 2026, reporters reported a heartbreaking incident in the rescue and disaster assistance community after Mr. Supamongkol Rattanajit, a 47-year-old special task force officer of the Volunteer Foundation Puen Phueng (Phra) in Difficult Times, Thai Red Cross Society, from Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, suddenly died during a mission helping people affected by flooding in Nan province.

Mr. Supamongkol was part of the Puen Phueng special task force disaster response team, working alongside the Prasat Boonsathan Foundation of Phitsanulok province, a disaster response drone team, Kubota company, and the Singha volunteer team to rapidly deliver food, drinking water, and essential supplies to affected residents.

Using drones to transport supplies into the disaster areas, the mission covered three subdistricts of Pua district: Phuka, Silalaeng, and Woranakhon, including 14 villages, 1,466 households, and over 4,000 people affected by damaged routes and difficult access since 21 August.

Team members revealed that Mr. Supamongkol had underlying health conditions and may have had little rest due to continuous duties before suddenly passing away at a hotel. However, medical examination is ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
