The owner of an auto repair shop disappeared after riding his motorcycle away from his home in Mae Hong Son province. Relatives reported him missing, and his body was eventually found dead inside a forest hut about 1 kilometer from his house in the woods.
At 14:00 on 3 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Prinyawat Thitichayakulkan, deputy investigator of Mae Hong Son City Police Station, received a report of a man found dead unnaturally inside a forest hut in the garden area of Moo 2, Kung Mai Sak village, Pang Mu subdistrict, Mae Hong Son City. Upon notification, he went to the scene to investigate along with forensic officers, the duty doctor from Srisangwan Hospital, and rescue personnel from Mae Hong Son Disaster Relief Foundation.
At the scene in the forest garden about 1 kilometer from Kung Mai Sak village, a man was found lying face up, deceased inside the hut. The body was bloated with maggots crawling over it and a foul odor permeated the area. Rescue workers had to light a large incense stick to help mask the smell.
Examination revealed head wounds and a .22 caliber long gun resting on the deceased’s body. Also found inside the hut were a black backpack containing 16 rounds of .22 and 9mm ammunition, several bank passbooks, multiple vehicle registration documents, amulets, various personal effects, and an ID card identifying the deceased as Boonyarit Sudsaeng, age 31, a resident of Phabong subdistrict, Mae Hong Son City. Nearby, a white Honda Scoopy motorcycle belonging to him was parked a short distance away in the forest.
Preliminary investigation showed the deceased owned an auto repair shop in Pang Mu subdistrict. He disappeared along with his motorcycle on 28 Aug. His relatives searched for him and filed a missing person report at Mae Hong Son City Police Station on 30 Aug, fearing he might have been harmed, as he had previously been assaulted by a group of youths in Pang Mapha district.
The body was discovered bloated about just over 1 kilometer from Kung Mai Sak village where he lived with his wife. Initial assumptions suggest he may have used the weapon to take his own life due to personal stress. However, authorities are not ruling out foul play; they are collecting and analyzing evidence and will conduct a thorough autopsy to clarify the cause of death and resolve the case.
