School Director and Recipient of “Moral Educator Award” Ends Life at Home Found to Have Work Stress and Depression

The school director in Kamphaeng Phet, recipient of the “Moral Educator Award,” ended his life at home. His parents heard a gunshot and tried to intervene but were too late. He was found to be stressed over work and suffering from depression.

At 09:30 on 7 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Wachyanon Sorakadam, deputy investigator at Sai Ngam Police Station in Kamphaeng Phet, received a report from Sai Ngam Hospital about a man injured by a firearm at his residence who later died. He proceeded to investigate a house in Phan Thong Subdistrict, Sai Ngam District, Kamphaeng Phet.

Upon arrival, relatives of the deceased—including his father, mother, younger sibling, and wife—were gathered outside the house, visibly grieving. Authorities inspected the bedroom and found the deceased, a 56-year-old man named Mr. Delinuis Daengphat, principal of Ban Bo Kaeo School under the Kamphaeng Phet Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, who had held the position since 2020.

Initial examination revealed a gunshot wound to the right temple. Inside the bedroom, one bullet casing and a 9mm handgun were found, along with bloodstains on the bed. Officials collected evidence at the scene to proceed according to legal protocols.

Interviews with relatives and close associates revealed that before the incident, Mr. Delinuis had gone to school to perform his duties as usual, accompanied by his wife, who also worked at the same school. They stayed at the school for about two hours, having normal conversations. Afterwards, he drove home alone, and relatives noticed he appeared stressed.

Later, while at home, his parents heard a single gunshot. They rushed to the bedroom and found their son injured by a gunshot. They attempted to take him to Sai Ngam Hospital for medical assistance, but he died shortly afterward.

Mr. Delinuis was a dedicated educational administrator who had previously been honored with the “Moral Educator Award” in the category of school administrators, recognizing his management and operational achievements.

However, relatives and close associates disclosed that in the approximately two weeks prior, the deceased had been experiencing work-related stress and depression. His family had been closely monitoring and caring for him but did not anticipate such an event, especially considering it occurred after he returned home from school.

Police are currently gathering evidence and interviewing relatives and close associates to determine the true cause and motivation behind the incident before proceeding with legal actions.
