On 15 Sep 2026, reports indicated that this was the first day San Sai Hospital started dispensing backlogged medications to patients after working to resolve outstanding debts with pharmaceutical companies and managing to borrow drugs from other hospitals, resulting in the gradual replenishment of several drug types in the inventory.
Patients and their relatives went to the hospital to obtain queue cards to wait for medication distribution, following earlier impacts from the hospital's drug shortage situation, which caused many patients to receive incomplete prescriptions and incur additional time and travel expenses to collect medicines multiple times per month.
The hospital designated an area near the old emergency room specifically for dispensing backlogged medications, separate from the regular pharmacy to reduce crowding and waiting times. Pharmacists and staff were present to assist, with over 300 patients served in the morning. The process was straightforward: patients presented medication envelopes listing backlogged drugs along with their ID cards to receive additional medicines. Officials stated the situation is gradually improving and the hospital will take every possible measure to minimize patient impact, expressing gratitude for all support.
The backlogged medication distribution point will operate from 15 to 25 Sep 2026. For patients registered to receive medications by mail, the hospital will send drugs to the addresses provided during registration as usual.
