Floodwaters in Sawang Arom, Uthai Thani province, have surged into the hospital, prompting urgent evacuation of patients as water levels continue to rise.
On 29 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that the flood situation in Sawang Arom district, Uthai Thani province, remains concerning. After floodwaters inundated commercial areas and the Sawang Arom municipality district since yesterday, water levels have continued to rise, flooding Sawang Arom Hospital and disrupting travel for medical staff and patient transport vehicles entering and leaving the hospital.
Most recently this afternoon, the Thap Than–Sawang Arom road was flooded with water approximately 30–70 centimeters deep, making it impassable for small cars, while floodwaters continued to encroach further into the hospital area.
Governor Sombat Traisak of Uthai Thani, alongside the provincial public health doctor, the irrigation department head, and the provincial disaster prevention office, visited the area to oversee and coordinate relief efforts closely. They mobilized staff from the Department of Disaster Prevention, military personnel, rescue volunteers, and local administrative organizations to jointly evacuate patients requiring ongoing treatment to Nong Chang Hospital and Thap Than Hospital, which have not been affected by flooding, to ensure patient safety.
Governor Sombat explained that the cause of this flood disaster is runoff from Mae Wong National Park in Nakhon Sawan and Kamphaeng Phet provinces. Simultaneous overflow from Khlong Pho and Khae Tak Daet rivers flooded the district area extensively, severely impacting nearly the entire Sawang Arom municipality district, with water levels continuing to rise.
Given the situation, it has become necessary to urgently evacuate patients requiring continuous treatment to Nong Chang Hospital and Thap Than Hospital for their safety, while facilitating the transfer of patients and medical personnel throughout the day.
