Devotees Flock to Pray at Naga Palace at Wat Tha Mai I, Seeking Lucky Numbers Before Lottery Draw

Devotees flock to make merit and pay respects to Grandfather Srisuttho and Grandmother Sripathumma at the "Naga Palace" at Wat Tha Mai I, Chiang Mai Province, seeking luck in the final stretch before the lottery draw on 1 Nov 2026.

On 31 October 2026, reporters reported that after a clip was shared on social media showing Wat Tha Mai I in Pa Daet Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province enshrining Grandfather Srisuttho and Grandmother Sripathumma—the largest Naga statues in northern Thailand—at the temple for devotees to worship and seek blessings, it was found that although construction is not yet 100% complete, strong faith has drawn continuous visitors, especially on weekends. Families have come to the temple bustling since morning, with nearby vendors selling food, drinks, and lottery tickets in lively stalls.

Phra Kru Sriwutikun, Ph.D., revealed that a wave of devotees from all directions has been coming densely since morning, especially on weekends. Some bring their children and grandchildren, others their partners or loved ones to ask for blessings for love fulfillment, children, and good health free from illness.

Certainly, some come to try their luck by buying lottery tickets at the temple, believing that Grandfather Srisuttho and Grandmother Sripathumma will grant them fortune. Previously, only the northeastern region had Naga palaces, but now there is a large Naga statue at Wat Tha Mai I in Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, for worship. It is believed that this lottery round will bring a big win for those who take the chance.
