The Army is urgently investigating the cause of a VT4 tank's barrel cracking after continuous firing during a clash with Cambodia along the border area.

On 13 December 2025, amid clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border, the Facebook page "Wassana Nanuam" run by military correspondent Wassana Nanuam posted that "The Army revealed that the dragon-breed VT4 tank sacrificed itself, firing continuously in battle until the barrel cracked. The Army spokesperson said repair is underway, awaiting the Ordnance Department's determination of the cause."

Colonel Ritcha Suchasuwan, Deputy Army Spokesperson, commented on the incident involving the Thai VT4 tank's barrel cracking due to firing, confirming the damage did occur. However, the cause has not yet been determined and remains under technical investigation.

He added that there are several possible explanations since the VT4 tank had been continuously engaged in heavy firing throughout the operation period, which could be the cause. Nevertheless, he urged waiting for a detailed technical examination by the Ordnance Department.
