Mukdahan Checkpoint Still Sees Fuel Trucks In and Out, No Abnormalities Found

After orders were issued to inspect fuel trucks at Chong Mek checkpoint in Ubon Ratchathani Province heading to Cambodia, only eight fuel trucks were present this morning, with no abnormalities found.

At 09:00 on 16 Dec 2025, reporters reported that after Lieutenant General Weerayut Raksin, Commander of the 2nd Army Region, signed a document controlling the export of fuel and military equipment at the permanent Chong Mek border crossing in Sirindhorn District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, to prevent fuel being transshipped to Cambodia through Laos, concerns arose over whether fuel trucks might cross other border checkpoints, such as the 2nd Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge (Mukdahan-Savannakhet), also a border crossing.

A recent survey in front of the checkpoint found far fewer fuel trucks waiting to deliver fuel than the previous day, with only eight trucks present and no fuel trucks stranded. A fuel truck driver said the number of trucks is high only on Mondays; on other days, fewer than ten trucks is normal.

On 15 Dec 2025, about 30 fuel trucks waited to cross the checkpoint to deliver fuel. Nattapol Kongkhaluang, Director of Customs Services at Mukdahan Customs, said Mukdahan Customs has coordinated with customs management, immigration police commanders, and the 2nd Army Region to control fuel exports. They have strictly monitored exports of fuel to Laos and other goods and conduct regular monitoring.
