The family is relieved to learn that the military has successfully brought down the body of Sergeant Samroeng Klangprakhon from Hill 350. They also hope the Thai soldiers will achieve a decisive victory so the country can return to peace quickly.
On 20 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters reported that the atmosphere at Huai Po Temple, Pangku Subdistrict, Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province, where the royal cremation ceremony for Sergeant Samroeng Klangprakhon—also known as Sergeant Roeng, age 38—is being prepared, has become lively again. Sergeant Roeng died in a clash with Cambodian soldiers on 16 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at Hill 350 near Ta Kwai Temple, Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province. Buriram Governor Piya Pichnam visited the family to confirm that Sergeant Roeng’s body has been brought down from Hill 350 and is scheduled to be delivered to the temple tomorrow, 21 Dec.
Mrs. Oon Klangprakhon, 79, Sergeant Samroeng’s mother, said she now feels relieved and proud that the Thai soldiers have successfully completed their mission. She wished for the Thai military to achieve a decisive victory and for Thailand to enjoy lasting peace.
Meanwhile, Miss Thanyarat Klangprakhon, 39, Sergeant Roeng’s wife, tearfully said in front of his photo, “He accomplished it—he was amazing. But why did it have to be this way? Victory should come with life.”
She added that she is very proud the soldiers captured Hill 350, just as her husband had said before: if the Thai flag was not planted on Hill 350, they would not return home. Today, he succeeded, and she deeply respects his sacrifice, which she considers a sacrifice for the entire nation. She is glad to see her husband’s face one last time. She will now live a normal life by raising their two children according to their father’s wishes.
Buriram Governor Piya Pichnam stated that all preparations for Sergeant Roeng’s royal cremation ceremony are complete. Once the body arrives, the ceremony will proceed without any issues.
However, Sergeant Roeng’s family is anxious to see him and has been taken by police vehicle to Surin Hospital to await the arrival of his body.
