Cambodia Launches BM-21 Rockets at Ta Kwai and Ta Muean Thom Frontlines in Attempt to Reclaim Territory

Thai forces began heavy artillery fire from early dawn after detecting Cambodian soldiers firing BM-21 rockets in an attempt to seize Ta Kwai Castle, Hill 350 Chong Krang, and Ta Muean Thom Castle, following Thai control along the entire frontline.

On 23 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters stated that from about 05:30, Thai soldiers fired artillery in response to multiple Cambodian units, causing loud explosions along the border at Ta Kwai Castle, Hill 350 Chong Krang, and Ta Muean Thom Castle in Phanom Dong Rak district, Surin province.

Around 07:45, Cambodian troops launched BM-21 rockets at the first Thai unit of the day, followed by intermittent recoilless rifle fire, alternating with continuous Thai artillery support. Since yesterday, Thai forces detected significant Cambodian troop and heavy weapon reinforcements moving close to the border to retake all strategic border positions previously regained by Thailand, including Ta Kwai Castle, Hill 350 Chong Krang, and Ta Muean Thom Castle in Phanom Dong Rak district. Artillery fire continues periodically.

Meanwhile, the border at Kab Choeng district remained without clashes for several days this morning after Thai forces struck weapons depots, fuel stations, bridges, and two casino sites in Or Samet community, Krung Samrong district, Oddar Meanchey province, where weapons and drone launch points had been hidden, causing significant damage. This aimed to cut supply routes for Cambodian troops along the border. However, occasional Thai artillery fire supporting operations from the Chong Jom border area was still heard.

The situation along the Thai-Cambodian border remains closely monitored for further developments.
