Mahasarakham Administrative Officials Raid Drug-Using Youth Gang Pregnant Woman Among Them

The Permanent Secretary of Mahasarakham ordered administrative officers to raid a house in Kudrang District, arresting a group of youths using methamphetamine. A 7-month pregnant woman was found among them.

On 8 January 2026 GMT+7, reporters learned that Mr. Samrit Norkaeo, Permanent Secretary of Mahasarakham, instructed a special operations team of the provincial administrative officers to inspect a house in Huakham Village, Na Pho Subdistrict, Kudrang District. The order followed reports that local youths regularly gathered there to use methamphetamine, with up to 20 people sometimes present.

Upon inspection, officers found six youths aged 14 to 20 years in and around the house, including a woman seven months pregnant. All admitted that the house served as a local methamphetamine use site. Further checks revealed the homeowner—a 52-year-old father of one of the youths—was inside and had a history of drug use. When asked to identify those using methamphetamine, four, including the homeowner and the pregnant woman, confessed; three others tested negative for drugs.

While informing the youths about entering treatment programs, a 14-year-old girl present began crying, expressing fear of being alone at home, which moved the officers. All involved were then taken to the Kudrang District Office for legal processing and the drug users were referred for treatment.
