State Railway of Thailand Announces Route Changes and Suspension of 14 Northeastern Trains Due to Crane Falling on Train

The State Railway of Thailand has announced route changes and the suspension of 14 trains on the Northeastern Line after a construction crane fell onto Special Express Train No. 21 in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

On 14 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Anan Phonnimdaeng, Deputy Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, acting as Governor, reported that a construction crane from the contractor of the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project contracts 3-4, for civil works on the Lam Takong – Sikhiu and Kutjik – Khok Kruat sections, fell onto Special Express Train No. 21 as it was passing between Nong Nam Khun and Sikhiu stations in Nakhon Ratchasima. This incident blocked train passage along this route.

Consequently, the SRT has found it necessary to suspend and reroute Northeastern Line trains originating and terminating at Ubon Ratchathani, operating between Kaeng Khoi Junction – Bua Yai Junction – Nakhon Ratchasima stations, today (14 Jan 2026 GMT+7), affecting 14 trains as follows.

1. Two trains are suspended:
- Special Diesel Railcar Express Train Nos. 21/22 Bangkok Apiwat – Ubon Ratchathani – Bangkok Apiwat.

2. Twelve trains have route changes:
- Special Express Train Nos. 23/24 Bangkok Apiwat – Ubon Ratchathani – Bangkok Apiwat.
- Rapid Train Nos. 135/136 Bangkok Apiwat – Ubon Ratchathani – Bangkok Apiwat.
- Express Train Nos. 71/72 Bangkok Apiwat – Ubon Ratchathani – Bangkok Apiwat.
- Rapid Train Nos. 141/142 Bangkok Apiwat – Ubon Ratchathani – Bangkok Apiwat.
- Rapid Train Nos. 139/140 Bangkok Apiwat – Ubon Ratchathani – Bangkok Apiwat.
- Ordinary Train Nos. 233/234 Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) – Surin – Bangkok (Hua Lamphong).
