
The 2nd Army Region of Thailand and Cambodia's 4th Military Region held an informal meeting at the Chong Sa-ngam permanent border checkpoint to discuss three key issues: appointing officers responsible for border coordination, accident prevention measures for personnel, and cooperation on mine clearance.
On 15 Jan 2026 at 10:00 a.m., the chairpersons of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) from Thailand's 2nd Army Region and Cambodia's 4th Military Region met informally at the Chong Sa-ngam permanent border checkpoint in Phu Sing District, Si Sa Ket Province.
The purpose of this meeting was to strengthen relations and jointly review operations in line with the joint statement from the 3rd Special GBC meeting. Co-chairs included Thailand's Major General Kampanat Wapansoo, Chief of Staff of the 2nd Army Region and RBC chair for that side, and Cambodia's Lieutenant Colonel Nid Narong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the 4th Military Region and RBC chair for that region.
1. To designate primary officers responsible for border coordination between Thailand's 2nd Army Region and Cambodia's 4th Military Region to ensure prompt and effective communication.
2. To establish guidelines for preventing accidents among personnel operating along the border.
3. To define collaborative approaches for clearing landmines in the interior areas to safeguard officials and local residents.
