The contractor has nearly completed dismantling the crane and is expected to begin repairing the damaged railway tracks today.
Progress on dismantling the crane involved in the high-speed rail construction, which collapsed onto a train causing multiple injuries and fatalities, was reported yesterday (19 Jan 2026 GMT+7). Officials from Italian-Thai Development PLC transported crane sections stuck atop the construction site, successfully cutting and removing one piece. Later, they spent almost the entire night removing an additional crane segment.
Today (20 Jan 2026 GMT+7) at 06:30, officials removed another damaged crane segment. The latest situation is that all crane parts on one side have been removed. Only the crane sections on the opposite side remain, with workers urgently dismantling them. This will allow officials from the State Railway of Thailand to access and replace the railway tracks damaged in the incident. It is expected that all crane parts will be removed today, enabling track repairs and resumption of normal train services.
