Relatives revealed that “Rattikan,” the man who killed a hotel employee in Hua Hin, had a troubled youth and was repeatedly imprisoned for theft, assault, and rape. He has been away from home for half a year.
In the case where a female hotel employee was attacked by a man who climbed over the counter while she was sleeping due to illness, the incident took place inside a hotel in Hua Hin district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, at about 03:15 on 19 January. Police investigators reviewed the hotel's CCTV and saw a man about 160-180 cm tall, dark-skinned, wearing a black jacket, white pants, and orange shoes, repeatedly circling the counter area near the victim. When he saw the woman was deeply asleep, he climbed over the counter and hit her head multiple times with an iron rod, then took two phones and the employee's black bag before fleeing. The suspect was later identified as 36-year-old Rattikan Yingyod. Authorities have now arrested the suspect, as previously reported.
Reporters traveled to Laharn Plakhao village, Laharn Plakhao subdistrict, Mueang Yang district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, the hometown of Rattikan, and met with his cousins and neighbors.
A cousin of the suspect revealed that Rattikan had not returned home for over six months. He had gone to visit his mother, who works as a caregiver for the sick in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, and the family had not heard from him since. Rattikan was known to be unruly since childhood and had multiple prison terms for theft, assault, and rape. He had several girlfriends, including women and transgender women.
A neighbor said that whenever they met, Rattikan would greet him respectfully and seemed harmless. He left home about two to three years ago and was known to have been in prison. The neighbor thought that after release, he would reform and never expected him to commit such a shocking crime.
