Thai military forces, working together with police officers, raided a scammer base at the permanent border checkpoint of Chong Jom–Or Samet in Kabchoeng District, Surin Province. They found evidence of staged police offices from multiple countries used as tools to deceive the public.
It was reported that on 23 January 2026, the Army, led by Lieutenant General Theeranan Nankhwap, Chief of Army Intelligence, together with military personnel, joined forces with Police Major General Witthaya Sriprasertphap, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division, and police officers from the Central Investigation Bureau of the Royal Thai Police to inspect a suspicious area suspected of being a technology crime hub operated by scammers at the Chong Jom–Or Samet permanent border checkpoint in Kabchoeng District, Surin Province, under the responsibility of the Suranaree Task Force.
Upon inspection, they found abundant evidence, particularly rooms arranged to resemble police offices and government agencies of various countries. This setup reflects a well-planned, managed, and systematically controlled operation connected as part of an international criminal network.
Officials stated that these actions not only threaten national security but also constitute a danger to humanity in the digital technology era, where online mechanisms are widely used to deceive the public.
Relevant agencies will urgently expand investigations, block such activities, and strictly enforce the law to protect citizens and sustainably maintain national security.
