A fire broke out inside a large factory in the Suranaree Industrial Estate, with flames reaching level 5 intensity. Large quantities of thinner and paint chemicals were found. There are no reports of injuries or deaths.
At 12:35 GMT+7 on 31 January 2026, a severe fire erupted inside a factory in the Suranaree Industrial Estate, Nong Bua Sala Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Thick black smoke billowed high into the sky over Korat city, causing alarm among workers and local residents.
Volunteers from the Sawang Metta Thammasathan Foundation reported to their superiors that the fire intensity at the scene had been raised to “level 5.” The fire started in the plating factory, where large amounts of flammable chemicals such as thinner and paint were stored, causing the fire to spread rapidly and hindering firefighting efforts. Authorities deployed multiple water trucks to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.
Preliminary checks indicate no injuries or fatalities from the incident. Most employees were safely evacuated to the assembly point.
Firefighters continued to spray water over the plating area to prevent flare-ups from the chemicals. By 14:00 GMT+7, the fire was brought under control. Authorities are preparing to coordinate with forensic teams to determine the exact cause once the fire is fully extinguished. Residents downwind in Nong Bua Sala Subdistrict have been advised to wear masks to avoid inhaling chemical smoke.
