Khon Kaen Election Commission Warns Voters to Avoid Wearing Numbered Shirts to Prevent Election Law Violations

Khon Kaen received ballot boxes for the 2026 election as polling station officials collected election materials. Meanwhile, the Election Commission reminded voters to exercise their rights and warned against wearing shirts with numbers that risk violating election laws.

At 10:00 a.m. on 6 Feb 2026 GMT+7, at the Khon Kaen Municipality Office, ballot boxes and referendum materials were delivered for Khon Kaen's District 1 electoral zone, which includes Nai Mueang, Phra Lap, and Mueang Kao subdistricts, covering 175 polling stations. Officials arrived to receive materials promptly, with polling station committees arriving continuously to ensure smooth procedures and reduce congestion.

Officials arranged material distribution in time slots, delivering ballot boxes, ballots, voter lists, and all related materials completely. The election supervisors and relevant staff closely monitored the process.

Mr. Watchara Sisan, Director of the Khon Kaen Election Commission, said that since early morning, 11 polling stations had received election materials. Khon Kaen reported smooth operations. District 1 has a total of 175 polling stations, with the material delivery system working flawlessly. He confirmed full 100% readiness in terms of personnel, materials, and polling venues.

Election law prohibits candidates and related parties from campaigning in any form from 6:00 p.m. one day before the election until 6:00 p.m. the following day. Candidates and their teams must avoid wearing party symbols and numbers during this restricted period, as it may constitute prohibited campaigning. The public is also requested to avoid wearing numbered shirts unless necessary, to prevent confusion and potential election law violations.

“On election eve, we have maintained constant monitoring with investigative teams watching all areas. If citizens observe violations or suspected breaches of election law, they can report tips to the provincial Election Commission offices. Currently, there are five complaints under investigation: four concerning vote-buying and one involving gift-giving. All are under the committee’s review.”

Deputy Governor Phanthep Saokosol stated that the province has instructed government officials to remain neutral during the election, including village headmen and community leaders. The Ministry of Interior has directed provinces, districts, subdistricts, and villages to ensure election-related personnel maintain strict neutrality.
