Surins Border Patrol Police Armory Explosion Injures One Officer with Shrapnel Wound to Leg

The Governor of Surin revealed that an explosion occurred at the Border Patrol Police 21 armory, initially injuring one officer who was struck by shrapnel in the leg but is in stable condition.

An explosion occurred at the Border Patrol Police 21 armory at Surin Phakdi Camp in Surin Province around 19:30 on 24 Feb 2016, causing a severe fire and intermittent blasts. The cause is currently under investigation, as previously reported.

At 20:40, Chamroen Wanphet, Governor of Surin Province, stated that a fire at the armory continued with increasing explosions but has now begun to subside. However, the situation remains unstable, and officials have not yet been able to enter the scene.

Initially, one person was injured by shrapnel hitting the leg. The officer was about 100 meters away from the explosion site. The wound has been treated, and the individual is in stable condition and able to walk. There were no personnel inside the armory at the time, so only one injury is expected.
