Summer Storm Hits Kalasin, Damages Over 30 Houses Governor Orders Rapid Damage Assessment and Aid

"Summer storm" strikes with force "Kalasin" Heavy rain and strong gusts damaged 23 homes. Over three days, two districts were affected, impacting a total of 35 households.


On 25 February 2026, reporters stated that the Kalasin Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center summarized the impact from the summer storm. On the evening of 24 February 2026 and during the early hours of the following day, thunderstorms and strong winds battered the Kam Muang district, along with heavy rain in several areas of Kalasin province.

Initial damage assessments found the affected area to be Na Tan Subdistrict, Kam Muang district, covering four villages: Village 7, 9, 11, and 12. Twenty-three households were affected, with partial damage to 23 residences, one rice granary, and one animal pen. There were no injuries or fatalities. The Kam Muang district chief has coordinated with local administrative organizations to promptly survey the damage and provide assistance.

Combining statistics on the summer storm's impact in Kalasin province from 22 to 24 February 2026, two districts were affected: Huai Mek and Kam Muang (covering three subdistricts and seven villages). Thirty-five households were affected, with 30 homes damaged. Additionally, one rice granary, one animal pen, one agricultural structure, one mushroom growing house, and one occupational equipment item were damaged.

Orathai Boonsroi, Director of the Kalasin Meteorological Station, reported preliminary rainfall amounts in Kalasin on 24 February 2026. Rainfall was scattered across many areas, with the highest measurement at Huai Mek district at 75.0 millimeters, followed by Khao Wong district at 54.0 millimeters, Tha Khantho district at 40.0 millimeters, and Somdet district at 36.0 millimeters, respectively.

Meanwhile, Suwat Khemthanaphet, Governor of Kalasin province, urgently instructed relevant agencies, local administrative organizations, and all district chiefs to expedite damage surveys and disburse aid to disaster victims according to regulations as quickly as possible. He also ordered readiness of equipment, materials, and personnel to be on standby to assist residents around the clock.

Additionally, the Kalasin governor emphasized utilizing community leaders and village public announcement systems to warn residents to remain vigilant against potential recurring summer storms. He advised avoiding open areas, large trees, unstable structures, and weak billboards. Farmers were urged to securely tie fruit trees and care for livestock's safety. Residents experiencing hardship were encouraged to contact local government agencies immediately for assistance.
