At 06:44 on 27 Feb 2026, Private Detachak Treekham stepped on a personnel landmine at his own Erawan Operation Base. The explosion caused his right leg to be amputated, and shrapnel injuries to his left arm and left leg, with serious condition.

After the incident, officials evacuated him from the base and airlifted him urgently by helicopter to Surin Hospital for treatment.

Dr. Chawamai Sibnukarn, director of Surin Hospital, stated that the injury to Private Detachak’s right leg was below the knee, requiring immediate surgery.

In conversation with Private Detachak, he responded well, showing good morale and fighting spirit. The medical team has already offered him encouragement.

Medical treatment follows hospital standards, including thorough wound care. He may require 2-3 surgeries to prevent complications, especially due to shrapnel wounds on his left leg. The hospital assures the public that they will provide the best care for his injuries.
