73-Year-Old Man Riding Motorcycle to Buy Fuel for Tractor Dies in Rear-End Collision with Pickup Truck

A 73-year-old man died after being rear-ended by a pickup truck; two fuel cans were scattered beside his motorcycle. His daughter sadly revealed that her father regularly bought "fuel" to fill his tractor for rice cultivation, but this time he was unlucky. Many stations had run out of fuel, making it difficult to find, so he had to...search aroundto buy

At 15:00 on 17 Mar 2026, Police Lieutenant Kriengsak Kitchaisong, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Stuek Police Station, Stuek District, Buriram Province, received a report of a pickup truck colliding with a motorcycle opposite a gas station near Stuek District. Injured persons were at the scene, so he coordinated with Wang Kruad rescue units to investigate.

The scene was on a four-lane road between Buriram and Stuek. In the rightmost lane, a Honda Wave motorcycle was found fallen with damage at the rear from the collision. Nearby was a black Toyota four-door pickup truck from Sa Kaeo province, with damage to its front right side.

Two fuel cans were found on the road median. The body of a man, later identified as Mr. Promma Homhual, age 73, a resident of Stuek Subdistrict, Stuek District, Buriram, lay dead in the middle of the road near the motorcycle.

Mrs. Rerai, age 46, a civil servant and resident of Khao Chakan District, Sa Kaeo Province, who was driving the pickup, said she was traveling to visit her child in her hometown of Roi Et Province to help with school applications. At the scene, the motorcycle suddenly moved into the right lane, and she could not brake in time, resulting in a rear-end collision.

Mr. Pakin Thanthaisong, 29, a gas station employee, said he saw the elderly man arrive on the motorcycle with two fuel cans, intending to buy fuel. However, the diesel was sold out. He then saw the man leave, apparently to make a U-turn to try other stations. Shortly after, he heard a loud crash and found the elderly man who had come to buy fuel had been hit.

Mrs. Siriporn Chunram, 51, the deceased's daughter and village head of Ban Koo Kad, said her father regularly went out to buy fuel to fill the tractor for rice farming. Due to fuel shortages, he had to search several stations. During this season, he made multiple trips daily because it is the plowing season to prepare for rice planting. Sadly, this time, her father was unlucky.
