"Ta Pod"An 89-year-old elderly man, victim of a Cambodian bomb explosion who lost his leg and became bedridden, passed away peacefully at his home in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. His son urged the government to decisively end any future clashes.

On 18 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that amid the Thai-Cambodian border situation, in Nam Yuen District, Mr. Pod Chor Sa, 89, one of the severely injured from a BM21 rocket that struck his house during the first clash, had his leg amputated and became bedridden. He peacefully passed away yesterday (17 Mar) at a new home built for him by the government.

Mr. On Sri Chor Sa, son of Ta Pod, said this loss is a cruel memory. The images of that day remain vivid to this day. Everything happened so quickly, immediately after the explosion sound.soundedinside the house. He went to check on Ta Pod and found him unconscious with a severed leg, severely injured, before he was taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, Mrs. Hung Chor Sa, Ta Pod’s wife, died instantly.

Mr. On Sri added that during treatment, Ta Pod fought hard. Before the incident, his father was strong, cheerful, and healthier than all his children. Every day he woke up early, exercised regularly both morning and evening, and encouraged his children to also care for their health. However, the violence caused his father to become bedridden immediately.

The son admitted he feels anger toward Cambodia, which caused his family’s loss of two loved ones. He urged the new government to urgently and seriously resolve the border conflict and bring the situation to an end quickly. He stated that if a third clash occurs, it should be the last; he does not want a fourth or fifth.

The funeral is scheduled for tomorrow (19 Mar) with cremation planned, amid concerns over ongoing instability that could flare up at any time.
