27-Year-Old Man Suffers Chest Pain from Unknown Cause X-Ray Reveals Sewing Needle Near Heart

A 27-year-old man screamed inside his home from unexplained chest pain after lying on his bed. Doctors discovered via X-ray a sewing needle deeply lodged near his heart, requiring surgery due to the severity of his condition. It is believed the needle was left on the bed by someone.

On 24 Mar 2026 GMT+7, the emergency rescue unit of Su-ngern Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Krasang District, Buriram Province, received a report from the injured man of sudden severe chest pain. He was struggling to bear it despite trying to help himself by drinking water and walking.

When the responders arrived at his house in Samet, Su-ngern Subdistrict, Krasang District, they found Mr. Boonlert Sattaram, 27, grimacing and clutching his chest as he walked toward them. Initial examination found no visible wounds or injuries, so they took him to Krasang Hospital.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Mr. Boonlert's condition had not improved, so doctors performed an X-ray. They found a small sharp object about 7 cm long, later identified as a sewing needle, embedded in his left chest near the heart. Due to the danger, he was referred for surgery at Buriram Regional Hospital.

Ms. Suranya, 29, a neighbor, said she only heard someone shouting to call an ambulance but was too ill to get up. She heard the cries for over two hours before the rescue team arrived to take him away.

Mr. Sophon Nokprom, 25, the injured man's nephew, said doctors reported his uncle's condition as critical and requested family consent for surgery. It was initially found that the sewing needle had been left by the uncle himself on the bed. It is believed he accidentally lay on the needle after being exhausted from work, causing it to pierce his chest.
