A 12-year-old girl who was taken from her home in Mukdahan Province by a 53-year-old man has been found. Police have detained the suspect for questioning and initially charged him with two offenses.

On the morning of 7 Apr 2026 CE, investigators from Don Tan Police Station arrested Mr. Khrai Khamkha, 53, also known as Mr. Home, while he was driving on the Ban Nai A - Pa Phayom road in Lao Mi Subdistrict, Don Tan District, Mukdahan Province, along with the 12-year-old girl, about 20 kilometers from where she disappeared. The suspect was then taken for questioning at Don Tan Police Station.
Mr. Home claimed that he and the 12-year-old girl liked each other very much. He decided to take her away because he feared being separated. He also said the girl was unhappy with her mother, so they chose to leave together. Since then, they had been living in the forest, using water from streams to survive, occasionally buying food from villages, and he refused to apologize, stating he had done nothing wrong.
.Miss Krisana Srilasak,the homeroom teacher responsible for the 12-year-old girl, said that after learning the girl had been abducted or lured away from home, she was worried about the girl's well-being.She wasabducted orlured away from home.The teacher was concerned about how the girl was eatingand living.She wondered how the girlwas living.The teacher could not sleep well. When authorities informed her that the girl had been found and the suspect was in custody, she was very relieved and immediately went to see the girl at Don Tan Police Station.
Police are continuing their investigation and have charged the suspect. Pol. Maj. Gen. Phairoj Thaiputra, Commander of Mukdahan Provincial Police, stated that two charges have been initially filed: unlawful entry into another's residence without valid reason, and abducting or taking away a minor (under 15) from parents, guardians, or caretakers without proper cause or consent, even if the child agrees.
