The chief of Na Pho Police Station collapsed unconscious at his residence while preparing to leave for a meeting. He was carried to the ICU, with extreme heat suspected as the cause. His condition is currently stable.
On 10 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the Na Pho ambulance in Na Pho district, Buriram province, urgently transported Police Colonel Pongsakorn Pholayangnok, chief of Na Pho Police Station and a graduate of the 57th class of Sampran Police Cadet Academy, to Buriram Regional Hospital after he was found unconscious in his bedroom for unknown reasons.
According to the assigned driver, before the incident, he was waiting to pick up the police chief at his residence within the Na Pho Police Station compound to take him to a meeting at the Buriram Provincial Police Office regarding public order during the Songkran festival.
However, after waiting unusually long without seeing the chief leave the house and receiving no answer to calls, with limited time to reach the meeting, the driver opened the door and found the chief lying unconscious inside the bedroom. He immediately contacted Na Pho hospital staff before the chief was urgently transferred to Buriram Regional Hospital.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Warayut Janyeam, commander of Buriram Provincial Police, said that upon hearing the news, he went to meet and check on the chief’s condition at Buriram Regional Hospital. He learned that en route, the ambulance had to stop at Khumueang Hospital because the onboard medical equipment was insufficient.
The chief was then urgently transferred to Buriram Regional Hospital, which is 30 kilometers away from Khumueang Hospital, on a total route of 90 kilometers.
Subsequent detailed medical examinations revealed a heart problem requiring urgent bypass surgery. Doctors later reported that his condition is now out of danger. The cause awaits further medical diagnosis, but preliminary indications suggest the extreme heat combined with the chief’s hardworking nature led to the collapse.
