
Traffic on "Mittraphap Road" in Korat remains heavy as people continuously return to Bangkok after the long Songkran holiday. Highway officials have had to close U-turn points and open special lanes to relieve congestion at some spots.
On 16 April 2026 GMT+7, reporters observed that around noon today, traffic conditions on Mittraphap Road, Highway 2, in Non Sung District, Nakhon Ratchasima, showed a large number of people beginning their return journey to Bangkok after the extended Songkran festival holiday.
The volume of vehicles on Mittraphap Road, especially passing through Talat Khae intersection in Thap Prasat Subdistrict, Non Sung District, Nakhon Ratchasima, has continuously increased, even though some people who returned to work today have already traveled back.Someothers are still extending their leave before returning to work next Monday.
The volume of vehicles thathas increasedcontinuously has led officials from the Nakhon Ratchasima Highway District 1 to close U-turn points at various intersections to prevent traffic buildup. They have also opened special lanes from Ban Mai Kasem intersection in Thap Prasat SubdistricttoBan Samrit intersection in Thap Prasat Subdistrict, Non Sung District, covering about 5 kilometers to speed up traffic flow. It is expected that the number of vehicles will increase further this evening and throughout the night.
