26-Year-Old Man Declared Brain Dead After Accident Family Donates Organs to Save 8 Lives

A major act of merit: a 26-year-old man suffered an accident resulting in brain death. His family decided to donate his organs, helping to save eight other lives.

On 19 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reportersreported thatat Yasothon Hospital in Yasothon Province, Dr. Pathompong Pruproeng, the Yasothon Provincial Public Health Doctor, along with Dr. Thanomsil Kanmali, Director of Yasothon Hospital, and members of the Yasothon Provincial Red Cross observed and supported the family of 26-year-old Kritsapong, who had passed away, as they handed over the donated organs to help eight other patients.

Kritsapong, aged 26,passed awayafter an accident caused a brain hemorrhage, ultimately leading to brain death. Following the diagnosis, his family chose to perform a final act of merit by donating his organs. This donation helped eight patients, including the heart (the first officially transferred heart in Health Region 10), liver, two kidneys, two corneas, and two eyes.

Siriraj Hospital received the heart, Chulalongkorn Hospital the liver, Sapphasitthiprasong Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani one kidney, while the other kidney was sent to the Thai Red Cross Society. The two eyes were stored at Yasothon Hospital before being sent to the Thai Red Cross Society.
