Social Security Provides Compensation and Benefits to Heirs of Oil Truck Driver Who Died in Fire

The Social Security Office grants compensation and benefits to the heirs as prescribed by law in the case of an oil truck driver who died in a fire in Khon Kaen.

On 7 May 2026, reporters reported that following the death of an employee in a fire involving an oil truck at the fuel distribution point behind a gas station in Kranuan District, Khon Kaen Province, one driver died at the scene and two others suffered minor injuries. In response, Mrs. Marsri Jairangsee, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office (SSO), expressed condolences and concern to the heirs and family of the deceased. She emphasized that the Social Security Office must urgently provide full assistance to protect the employee's rights and benefits. She ordered Ms. Angsumalee Yodyingwittaya of the Khon Kaen Social Security Office to investigate the facts on site and coordinate assistance promptly.

Investigation found that the deceased was Mr. Anon Roikhamlue, aged 54, a resident of Srithat District, Udon Thani Province, employed by a company. His death was work-related, occurring due to occupational hazards. Both the employee and the eligible heirs are entitled to protection and compensation under the law, including benefits from the Social Security Fund such as old-age pension payments, compensation from the Workmen’s Compensation Fund including a funeral allowance of 50,000 baht, and death benefits as legally prescribed.

Subsequently, the Khon Kaen Social Security Office coordinated with the employer and informed the eligible heirs to receive their full, accurate, and fair benefits. This aims to alleviate their distress and closely support the deceased’s family, reinforcing the Social Security Office’s role in caring for employees and insured persons in all circumstances.
