
Family "Aunt Tiam" Victim of train-bus collision receives 1.6 million baht in compensation for traumatic accident, agreeing to sign over rights to youngest sibling for management.
Regarding the shocking accident where a train crashed into bus line 206 at the railway crossing at Asok-Phet intersection on Kamphaeng Phet 7 Road, Bangkok, around 15:30 on 16 May 2026, resulting in 8 deaths and multiple injuries. Among the deceased was Ms. Tiam Phuanyod, known as Aunt Tiam, aged 57, from Prang Ku District, Sisaket Province.
Most recently, on 21 May 2026, reporters visited Ban Don Kratai, Samae Subdistrict, Prang Ku District, Sisaket Province, the site of Aunt Tiam's funeral rites. The atmosphere was filled with sorrow as relatives accepted compensation payments from insurance companies. Mrs. Anoma Insee, Director of the Office of the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) in Sisaket Province, along with Ms. Lakkhana Thongsut, an insurance academic, witnessed the compensation payment to the deceased's family.
For this compensation payment, Thip Insurance Company Limited paid 500,000 baht under the mandatory motor insurance for passenger vehicles, while Muang Thai Insurance Company Limited paid 1,150,000 baht under the voluntary bus insurance, totaling 1,650,000 baht in compensation.
During the paperwork process, many of Aunt Tiam's relatives appeared deeply saddened, still struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss. The deceased had six siblings including herself. After family discussions, everyone unanimously agreed to sign over all rights to receive compensation to the youngest brother, who would be the sole recipient of the funds.
At the funeral, many relatives continued to speak fondly of Aunt Tiam, describing her as hardworking, kind-hearted, and always willing to help family members. Her passing has brought great sorrow to the family.
